Sinners – Shoreditch’s new temple of indulgence

Shoreditch is not short of restaurants and late-night venues, yet few manage to combine culinary ambition with performance as convincingly as Sinners & Eden Lounge. Conceived as a “day to night escape”, the venue offers two distinct experiences under one roof, each delivered with a level of polish that sets it apart from the area’s more raucous establishments.

By daylight, the upstairs Eden Lounge is an oasis of calm. Its design is inspired by nature, a leafy and contemporary interior that suits both remote working and leisurely lunches. The food here is unfussy but well judged. A plate of French toast is rich without being heavy, while the roasted pumpkin and whipped goats’ cheese salad strikes a balance between freshness and depth. The cocktails are worth the visit alone, especially the Whispered Sin, a delicate mix of elderflower, prosecco and rose water.

In the evening, the transformation is remarkable. Sinners is billed as an immersive dining and cabaret experience and it delivers on that promise. The atmosphere is intimate but not stifling, with performers moving fluidly between tables. The acts include fire, circus and burlesque, staged with enough theatricality to excite without overshadowing the food. Unlike many venues where the performance feels like an afterthought, here the flow between courses and entertainment is carefully structured.

The menu stands confidently beside the spectacle. A roasted lamb rump is cooked perfectly pink, accompanied by seasonal sides that show restraint rather than excess. A dark chocolate cake filled with sea-buckthorn is a highlight of the evening, its richness balanced by a sharp and fruity note. This is cabaret dining with genuine culinary credibility rather than novelty.

Perhaps what impresses most is the duality of the space. By day, Eden Lounge is genuinely restorative. By night, Sinners embraces hedonism with elegance. Together they capture a version of London that is both playful and sophisticated, proving that indulgence need not come at the expense of substance.

A thoughtful marriage of gastronomy and theatre. Both halves of this Shoreditch newcomer succeed in their own right, and together they create a venue of real distinction.
