The team behind acclaimed East London bars The Sun Tavern and Discount Suit Company will open the doors to their highly anticipated third launch Umbrella Workshops, this month.
Sensitively restored the space to create a unique setting for their interactive cocktail experience, which is sure to be a hit with drink enthusiasts. The custom-built intimate bar is set against an impressive, floor-to-ceiling display of spirits. Above it hangs a stunning installation featuring dried flowers, a nod to the space’s past history as a craftsman’s workshop. Visitors to Umbrella Workshops will be treated to a daily changing menu that will act as an incubator for their latest drinks development, with the most popular cocktails then appearing on the menus of their sister sites, Discount Suit Company and The Sun Tavern. The space will also host tastings and workshops, with everything on the menu also available to buy to take home. With just 12 seats, this intimate drinking spot is a hidden gem amongst bustling Shoreditch, perfectly located for pre-dinner cocktails before heading off to local favourites, Brat and St John.
The concept which has been two years in the making, was is born out during Lockdown 1, when the doors of The Sun Tavern and Discount Suit Company temporarily closed and the teams kept the East End and beyond sufficiently lubricated, with the delivery of bottled cocktails, cocktail kits, low intervention and natural wines, small producer spirits and of course Irish Whiskey. Their online store which has become a new arm to their business now has a bricks-and-mortar home at Umbrella Workshops.
